Woo-hoo, you made it in! Welcome to Day 1 of the Get Good With Money Challenge.
Get ready for a fun, LIVE, and transformative experience.
Together, we'll tackle money challenges, celebrate successes, and build a supportive community.
Let’s go!
Before we get into the meat and potatoes of the challenge, we need to spend a day checking in with one of the most powerful tools in your financial journey… your mindset.
By harnessing the power of your mind, you can overcome financial challenges, achieve your goals, and create a brighter future.
1. VIDEO BREAK 🍿🥤
Please pause here to watch your welcome video *heyyyyy*... and learn about the four 4 key questions to ask yourself before any purchase.
>> Want to think through your spending priorities on paper? Grab my printable worksheet HERE. <<
Your relationship with money isn't accidental. It's shaped by your past experiences, family upbringing, and societal influences.
If you grew up in a household struggling financially, you might find yourself holding onto money tightly out of fear.
Conversely, if your parents oversaved, you might overspend as a reaction.
Social media and advertising also contribute to our money mindset, often promoting instant gratification and materialism.
But don't worry, it's never too late to break free from negative patterns and cultivate a healthier relationship with money.
Take a moment to reflect on your current financial habits and write them down.
What are your automatic behaviors when it comes to money?
Are they helping or hindering your progress towards your financial goals?
Our past experiences and societal influences can shape our money mindset.
For example, do you believe that you're not good with money or that you don't have enough to save?
Jot them down too!
This is not to make yourself feel bad about your current habits, but to celebrate the awareness.
>> Need a place to scribble? Feel free to print out your habit questions to reflect on HERE. <<
To break free from unproductive habits, practice thinking two steps ahead.
As in: “If I do this, then this happens; if I do this then that happens.”
Get in the habit of always hitting pause to ask yourself:
What would this purchase, change, or financial decision do for me now?
What will it do for me a month from now when the bill comes?
What will I do when the bill comes and the money that was supposed to go toward one thing has to go to this other thing?
By taking a moment to pause and think, you can make more informed financial decisions.
3. Find Your Financial Voice
Now that we’ve cleared some of the mental clutter, it’s time to get connected with you own financial voice and use it take your power back.
Imagine a future version of yourself - someone financially confident, secure, and abundant.
Envision a person who effortlessly manages their money, saves for the future, and enjoys life to the fullest.
Draw inspiration from people you admire.
Perhaps you admire Janet's disciplined savings habits or Sheila's ability to balance fun and finance. Or maybe you appreciate Tanya's frugal mindset.
Combine these qualities to start to become your ideal financial self.
And remember, money doesn’t run you… you run it!
When you start thinking of yourself as the BOSS, you’ll start making different decisions.
4. Find Your (Positive) People
You've probably heard it before: you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.
Your circle of friends and family can significantly influence your habits, including your financial habits.
So, are your relationships uplifting or dragging you down?
Sometimes, people project their own fears onto others. Stay focused on your goals and don't let their doubts deter you.
That may mean sharing your success story after the work is done. (only you know what makes the most sense and causes the least amount of family or friend friction)
The most critical action you can take is to add people to your network who are not only positive, but also ambitious and working toward elevating their own financial position.
Do you have people like this in your life? Are you getting enough positive, encouraging support?
Accountability partnering is a great way to exchange positive energy and motivation and stay on track.
You’re in a uniquely amazing position with our LIVE Get Good With Money Challenge to be exposed to thousands of group accountability partners.
We’re all here to support and cheer you on.
Click here to stay active in our >> private community <<! You may connect with someone on a more one-one basis to push each other through the challenge and beyond.
We have Dream Catchers (our community name, if you’re new here) who have become close, life-long friends from one simple connection made during our live challenge events!
And, if you're looking for ways to keep motivated and on track on your financial journey outside of accountability partnering, you can also check out money-focused books, podcasts, networking events, and workshops.
Remember, you're not alone on this journey.
With the right mindset and support, you will absolutely achieve your financial goals.
[5. YOUR HOMEWORK]:
In addition to the mindset exercises we discussed above, you have some mandatory homework for Day 2. (Teacher Tiffany has officially arrived:))
Tomorrow, we dive into the world of saving money
…and I’m challenging you to a no-spend day. (Whew, we’re putting the power of mindset to work immediately!)
To prepare for tomorrow, get yourself ready today.
That does NOT mean you should run out and buy everything you've ever wanted today, lol. (I know I’m talking to someone)
Instead, try to work with what you already have.
Check your pantry and fridge/freezer for meal ideas, instead of rushing to the grocery store.
Looking for a fun day or night out? Explore free local events like concerts, art exhibits, or community festivals.
This isn't about deprivation, but about creativity and resourcefulness.
Let's see how far we can stretch a dollar!
See you tomorrow. Time to put the pedal to the metal…
P.S. How did your mindset day go? What did you discover and uncover about yourself?
My Lisa Rule: I have 4 sisters and Lisa is the baby (well she’s not a baby anymore). Of all of my sisters, I’m the most protective over her. Before I share any product or service with you, it must pass my Lisa Rule.
What’s the Lisa Rule? If I would not advise Lisa to use a product or service, I won’t advise you to either. YOU are my Lisa's. I feel protective over you and your financial journey.
The products and services I recommend pass my Lisa Rule. Yes, I may be an affiliate or partner and earn a commission off of referrals or income, but I would not recommend a product or service that I didn’t believe was helpful and useful.
